ST MARTIN DINING

Foodies agree that St Martin is widely known as the “Dining Capital of the Caribbean” and offers the widest variety of cuisine and prices of any other island in the world! Saint Martin Island boasts well over 300 restaurants serving anything from local BBQ ribs and chicken at the "Lolos" stands, to first class French fare cooked by famous chefs imported for the season from Paris and around the world.

In addition to French and Creole culinary delights, worldwide cuisine is well represented on St Martin, with choices from Italian, Tex-Mex, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Japanese and Chinese, to name but a few.  One could eat at a different restaurant every day of the year and never repeat themselves.  Bon Appétit!

Orient Bay offers plenty of dining choices, and don't let the casual atmosphere fool you as there are some very good restaurants on the beach.  Many of the major restaurants at the northern end of Orient beach have boutiques, and much more. There are many tee-shirt, bathing suit, and pareo stands at the southern end.  Safari Grill (French), Tai Chi (Asian), Le Piment (pizza, casual dining), Cote Plage (French), Little Italy (pasta). Across the street are Paris Texas, a Tex/Mex place w/bar, and Tap 5 for pizza and other light meals. Le Cadre serves mostly tapas. Additionally right outside Orient Village on the main road is Rancho Del Sol for dinner and drinks.  For upscale dining in Orient Village checkout Cafe Plantation and L'Astroble at the Esmeralda resort.

Needless to say, water sports on Orient Beach are plentiful.  But at sunset, the action moves off the beach to Orient Village where the stage in the center of the plaza offers entertainment to the surrounding restaurants.

Several beach bars on Orient Beach have parties at night during high season: Waikiki, Buddha Bar at Bikini, Kontiki, and Boo Boo Jams.   Check out the "Dining Guide" by clicking on the icon above for listings of happenings in the Orient Bay area or anywhere in St Martin/St Maarten

One of the culinary delights of the Caribbean is a trip to Grand Case Village, just minutes drive from your hotel.  This seaside village is blessed with approximately 40 restaurants and 20 or so boutiques and galleries for your dinning and shopping pleasure.  The Lolos offer a special treat of local food including grilled lobster, fish, BBQ ribs, chicken and other local dishes.  After dinner take a stroll down the main street and try on the costume jewelry and fun women's clothing items or enjoy one of the galleries. Yes, there are "Man Chairs" in all the shops so the guys can be patient while their ladies shop to their heart's content.

Marigot is the French capital and is less than 20 minutes drive from Orient Bay.  Here again are some of the top dining establishments on the island.  Marina Royale offers a wide range of choices from gourmet to casual spots overlooking the marina.  High season includes entertainment on certain week nights in both Grand Case and Marigot.

Those seeking a more active night life may want to venture to Saint Maarten, the Dutch side.  You can enjoy dinner at one of the many fine restaurants at the Atlantis Casino complex in Cupecoy, or the very lively Maho area, or all along Simpson Bay.  After dinner browse in the shops of Maho or enjoy a casino night or other entertainment.

Dinner reservations definitely recommended in high season for the best restaurants. ENJOY!!
